ARHITEKTURA
ARHITEKTURA is an architectural practice where the experience and ideas of two generations converge in a common cultural motive: making good architecture. Architecture that is both rational and poetic. Architecture which is the result of a wider spatial, historical, technological and social context, and is something that arises without predefined forms and is only just looking for its aesthetic justification. Architects, modelmakers, interior and product designers are working in our office in Ljubljana. The practice is led by Peter, Bostjan and Ales Gabrijelcic. Together we have dedicated ourselves to enrich spatial life in the fields of architecture, urbanism and design since 1997.
Bostjan Gabrijelcic
(1982,Ljubljana) is an architect and partner of Arhitektura since 2007. His position moves from concept design in architecture and urbanism to artistic research and industrial design. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana in 2007, had foreign exchange in Vaduz in Lichtenstein (2005) and worked in atelier Podrecca in Vienna (2006).
He has exhibited internationally, including Milan triennale Prague architecture week at Oris Days in Zagreb, the YEA! exhibition at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale. He received Trimo award in 2007 and 40 under 40 architectural award in 2014. Together with co-authors, he received the Golden Pencil Award in 2012 and 2014 and was nominated for the Plecnik Award in 2014 and 2020 and the EUmies Award in 2014 and 2021. He received Iakov Chernikov prize nomination in 2016.
Ales Gabrijelcic
is an architect and urban designer. During his studies, he participated in an international project for the planning and construction of a school in South Africa, spending two months working in Johannesburg. He later continued his studies at ETSAM in Madrid, where he also lived and worked.
After completing his Master’s degree, he has been based between Ljubljana and Madrid. Alongside his passion for projects on a smaller scale, he has also developed a strong appreciation for the dynamism and vibrancy of shaping urban environments.
He has exhibited internationally, including at Oris Days in Zagreb, RIBA in London, and the YEA! exhibition at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale. Together with co-authors, he received the Golden Pencil Award in 2014 and was nominated for the Plecnik Award in 2020 and the EUmies Award in 2021. He has also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana and contributed numerous articles to professional architectural journals, and served as a guest editor.
